I went in expecting atmosphere, but what surprised me was how well Riley Sager blends two storylines — Maggie in the present day, and the “book within the book” chapters written by her father — into something that feels layered without ever getting confusing.

That dual-structure ended up being my favorite part. Every time I thought I had a handle on what really happened in that house, the next chapter would nudge the wheel just enough to make me doubt everything again.
