About Me

Hi, I’m Trevor Wright — the poet, writer, and book reviewer behind Wrights Poetry.

I’ve always loved storytelling. I wrote short stories as a middle schooler, but it wasn’t until I lost my mom that I really started taking writing seriously. Since then, I’ve pushed myself to grow as a writer, blending nostalgia, horror, and fantasy into work that feels personal but resonates with others too.

Nostalgia is the thread running through much of what I create — sometimes warm and comforting, other times tangled with grief or past trauma. I often turn to the fantastical when I need escape, pulling inspiration from books, movies, music, and games. Horror, a genre my mom loved, shows up often in my writing. While I’m a bit of a wimp with scary movies, I’m drawn to horror fiction for the way it lingers.

My love of fantasy started with A Spell for Chameleon and Disney’s The Black Cauldron, eventually pulling me into tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons. Nostalgia for childhood TV shows, comic books, and classic video games — from Nintendo and Sega to PlayStation — still fuels my creativity.

I write daily, whether I’m brainstorming or drafting new pieces. My hope is always the same: to evoke emotion, spark memory, and leave readers feeling a connection.

When I’m not writing, you can find me adding to my growing book collection (someday I’ll call it a library), hanging out with my wife, or proudly being “girl dad” to my two daughters.
